Children are allocated bus passes for school transport based on their home address. Bus passes are generated automatically and applications are not needed each year, unless a child has not had a bus pass before or joins the school mid-year.  Bus passes are then sent directly to the school. ONLY CHILDREN WHO POSSESS A COUNTY COUNCIL BUSPASS WILL BE ALLOWED TO TRAVEL ON SCHOOL TRANSPORT. If a bus pass is lost or damaged, the charge for a replacement is £15.00.

Belts (lap only or lap and diagonal) must be fitted to all passenger seats. If lap and diagonal belts are fitted, due regard must be given to the age, size and height of the persons who may use the belt. There will always be an escort, provided by the County Council or contractor, present on each journey. This contract must always be operated by a vehicle equipped with a driver-controlled power-operated passenger door. The vehicle must carry a mobile 'phone or radio transmitter so that the driver can seek assistance in an emergency without leaving the vehicle.

The complete ‘Home to School Transport Policy’ document, bus pass application forms and the ‘Code of Conduct’ are available on the Northamptonshire County Council’s website at www.northamptonshire.gov.uk.
